caffeine = progress. (duh.)

Recently we have been bombarded with day after day of rain.  I definitely get a good case of the SAD from time to time, so it is imperative that I fill these rainy days with the following:

a) copious amounts of coffee
b) art-making (a given)
c) thinking about the chance that there may be a thunderstorm, which always lightens the mood for me
d) a thunderstorm occurs
e) playing good music, loud.
f) more coffee

Hopefully if I am lucky all six listed occur. Today, let's see, five out of six, not bad! (no thunder. boo.) While I am still shaking from all the caffeine I managed to make some artwork and get some new ideas together for future projects.  I also took some pictures of the magnolia and forsythia branches I brought in from my backyard.  I am trying to force them to bloom indoors and today, finally, one of the blossoms did just  that! Success!  I documented my efforts below.  Oh and thankfully, sun is scheduled for the next week or so.  Yay!

Happy friday! With inspiration from Abby I am trying for the first time Five Senses Friday. Okay, deep breath, here goes:

Smelling:

sea minerals handwash fragrance on my hands

Seeing:

magnolia tree blossoming next to my house

Tasting:

baked eggs with tomato sauce and tortillas - leftovers from dinner last night. so delicious.

Hearing:

Beethoven's string quartets, very spring-like.

Feeling:

The sun warm my back while I type this to you.

Have a wonderful, warm weekend.

This is pretty amazing. Paris is near the top of the list of places I would love to visit one day, and exploring this site makes it seem like I'm almost there!

Sorry for the absence here lately... It was such a beautiful weekend weather-wise which kept me away from the computer, and then Monday was like winter all over again (minus the snow) so it made me a little gloomy. Lacking a bit of inspiration today, so here is some I have found from around the web.

Loving this.

Easter Bunny Eggs. How cool would it be to have one of these? I love how they weigh 200 pounds a piece.

Beautiful Oregon coast photos. reminds me of my time spent there in 2007.

PS - Lost is on tonight, and according to the husband, it's supposed to be a doozy!

16 March 2010

An exciting day!

So today was a really productive day for me. Working on my own, it usually takes me some time to get going and make progress with my artwork on a day-to-day basis. But for some reason I had a lot of momentum and I was finally ready to open my Etsy shop!

Hooray!

And now here are some pretty pictures.

Some more bunnies (of course) and a few photographs. Getting ready to open my etsy shop in the next few months. Still a lot of research to do, but it is really exciting.

Linocuts

bunny linocut

bunny linocut, realized

Despite a couple of inches of snow last week, it is finally starting to feel like spring. (It's finally March!)

I'm hoping these bunny rabbits I'm drawing will coax the weather to maybe get to 55 degrees sometime soon. It has been a long, snowy winter.

Above, a linocut I completed this morning/afternoon. I'm going to try to set up the scanner so reproducing them will be easier and cleaner on the paper.

Right now I am craving a nutella latte from Chapterhouse coffee shop in philadelphia. So good! Maybe I will try to make one on my own...
